Let us spend a few words on new EP song "Dubina" and its meaning.
Inspiration comes from an old Russian folk song, "Dubinushka", a work song popular with the Volga barge haulers, the Burlaks.

The word "dubina" carries a double meaning, being originally a tree trunk o big log, used as a working instrument to put under and haul commercial vessels on the river Volga, a heavy physical job.
Its second meaning is club, cudgel. That is, a simple weapon even the poorest labourer could pick up and rebel against the heavy working conditions imposed upon him.

In that folk song, the original lyrics are dedicated to labour together with words of protest against social injustices of the time, calling upon the "dubina" both as a symbol of toil and of rebellion.

One of the most famous interpretations of the song was sung by Russian baritone Fyodor Shalyapin, you can hear it in the introduction of Voland's "Dubina".
In the years before 1917 the symbolic power of the song grew greatly, to the point that it was considered as the unofficial anthem of the revolution and was sung in the streets during the demonstrations.

Graphical inspiration comes from the picture "Barge Haulers on the Volga", by realist Russian painter I. E. Repin.

La mine, c'est le lieu qui met le plus en exergue les disparités sociales : d'un côté ils sont des milliers à descendre dans les entrailles de la terre, de l'autre une poignée s'élève socialement ; d'un côté ils meurent par centaines sous l'effet des coups de grisou, de l'autre ils consolident leurs richesses. Cette dualité, elle traverse aussi Kentucky : d'un côté le black metal atmosphérique asphyxiant, de l'autre l'americana et le folklore héroïque. Panopticon est dans la lutte permanente !
